Summer Camp FAQ

Camp Philosophy

Q: What is your camp philosophy?

A: Fun and safety are our top priorities! Beyond that, we encourage kindness, creativity, and using your imagination while having a blast.

Q: What makes Art With Jenny different from other art camps?

A: Art With Jenny stands out by creating a unique, personalized, and inspiring experience for every camper. Here’s why:

    • Tailored Age Groups: 6-9 years old and 9-12 years old (9-year-olds can choose either group). These smaller age ranges ensure that projects, activities, and games are developmentally appropriate, skill-level aligned, and engaging for every camper.
    • Focus on Fun and Creativity: We prioritize joy and self-expression. Campers explore various art mediums and work on projects designed to spark their imagination.
    • Individualized Attention: With small group sizes and a low camper-to-counselor ratio, every camper receives personalized guidance and support.
    • Dynamic, Hands-On Learning: Every week features exciting new projects, materials, and techniques to keep campers engaged and inspired.
    • Confidence Building: Mistakes are celebrated as part of the creative process. Campers are encouraged to embrace challenges, celebrate progress, and support their peers through kind feedback.
    • Exciting Camp Traditions: Campers enjoy unique traditions, like daily themes, group challenges, and end-of-week celebrations, creating a strong sense of connection and unforgettable memories.

Q: Do you focus on art history or advanced techniques?

A: No, our camps prioritize fun, creativity, and self-expression. While we occasionally introduce techniques, we avoid repetitive or history-focused lessons that kids might find boring.

Q: How do you make art fun for kids?

A: We foster a supportive, relaxed environment where creativity thrives. Kids are encouraged to express themselves, learn from mistakes, and think outside the box while exploring exciting projects.

Daily Activities and Camp Life

Q: What will my child do at camp?

A: Campers will enjoy painting, crafting, building, unique art projects, games, prizes, outdoor play, and more fun surprises!

Q: How are campers grouped during activities?

A: Campers are grouped by age at tables of 4-6 to ensure a collaborative and comfortable environment.

Q: My camper is coming with a friend. Can they sit together?

A: Yes! We’re happy to place friends together. Be sure to mention this request during registration.

Q: Can I pick my camper up early or drop them off late?

A: We don’t recommend late drop-offs, early pick-ups, or midday outings as they can disrupt your camper’s experience. However, if necessary, you can coordinate with the Camp Director in advance.

Q: What should my camper wear and bring to camp?

A: Wear casual clothing that can get messy and comfortable shoes. Bring a nut-free snack, a nut-free lunch, and a refillable water bottle. Apply sunscreen before arrival and pack a hat and extra sunscreen.

Q: Is there anything I need to do before camp starts?

A: You’re good to go if you’ve completed registration! We will send an “Introduction to Camp” email a few weeks before camp starts with more information.

Q: What should I expect on the first day of camp?

A: The first day will be full of excitement! You’ll meet the Camp Director, counselors, verify safety information, and your camper will jump into engaging activities with new friends.

Art Projects and Skill Levels

Q: Will my child bring home their artwork?

A: Yes! If a piece is wet or unfinished, we’ll store it safely for pickup later.

Q: My child is a beginner. Will they be okay?

A: Absolutely! Our projects cater to all skill levels, and we celebrate each camper’s unique style and progress.

Q: My child is advanced in art. Will they be bored?

A: Not at all! Advanced campers can add detail and complexity to their projects, tailoring them to their abilities.
