Job Description: As a Creative Workshop Teacher, you will lead engaging and interactive workshops that encourage participants to explore different artistic techniques, materials, and concepts. Whether teaching painting, drawing, sketching, watercolor, floral arranging, jewelry making, or other mediums, you will foster a positive and supportive learning environment where participants can express themselves creatively, develop new skills, and gain confidence in their artistic abilities. This role offers a unique opportunity to share your passion for art and creativity while making a meaningful impact on the lives of workshop participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Workshop Planning: Develop and plan 1-2 hour creative workshop curriculums
  2. Instruction: Lead hands-on instruction and demonstrations, guiding participants through the creative process and providing individualized feedback and support as needed.
  3. Skill Development: Teach foundational artistic techniques and concepts, encouraging experimentation, exploration, and personal expression in participants’ artwork.
  4. Materials Management: Organize and prepare workshop materials, supplies, and equipment, ensuring that participants have access to the necessary resources for their projects.
  5. Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom environment, managing group dynamics, behaviors, and time effectively while fostering a positive and respectful atmosphere.
  6. Encouragement and Motivation: Provide encouragement, motivation, and constructive feedback to participants, nurturing their confidence, creativity, and sense of achievement. Most of all, we want our attendees to have FUN!
  7. Community Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with workshop participants, families, and community members, fostering a sense of belonging and connection within the creative community.
  8. Professional Development: Stay informed about current trends, techniques, and best practices in art education through ongoing training, workshops, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Expert or masterly level in your skill of choice
  • Confident teaching and speaking in front of groups
  • Reliable, friendly, warm & fun
  • Strong passion for art and creativity, with a genuine desire to inspire and empower others through artistic expression.
  • Previous experience teaching art workshops, classes, or camps to children, teens, or adults in a formal or informal setting is a plus, but not required
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and connect with participants of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Patient, encouraging, and supportive demeanor, with the ability to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field is preferred but not required.
  • Certification or training in art education, teaching, or a related field is a plus, but not required.

Here are some FAQ’s –
1) Would I be paid for teaching these classes?
Yes! We would come up with the individual ticket price (per person) together and would agree upon the amount you would make from the event. All classes would include about 15 attendees if full.

2) Where would I teach?
The Art With Jenny studio is located in downtown Los Altos. There are 2 teaching rooms. The first room has an open floor space and pillows for grown-ups/kids to sit on and can accommodate about 15 people sitting on the floor. Great for meditation, close discussions, playing instruments, etc. The second room has a huge table and chairs – seating for 14 people.

3) Would this be a one-off event or a series?
It depends on what the class is better suited for and what your preference is. For example, a floral arranging class could be a one-off event, maybe once or twice a month. A crochet class could be once/a week for 10 weeks or longer. Lots of options!

4) Would I choose my schedule?
Yes, 100%. All classes/dates would be on your terms.

5) Would I work for you?
No, you would be paid as a contractor.

6) Do I need prior teaching experience?
No, but you need to have the following –
– Comfortable speaking in front of groups of people about your skill
– Be able to project your voice
– Be friendly, personable, and warm, and make your class/event FUN
– Be reliable, timely, and able to stick to a schedule

7) Do I need to have certain credentials?
No. Not everyone great at something has a credential!

8) What would I be in charge of?
– All supplies for your class/event
– Set up and clean up for your class/event
– Coming up with the lesson plan & teaching your class/event
– Promoting your class/event

Art With Jenny would take care of listing your class/event, advertising & promoting your event, accepting all signup payments, providing a clean, usable space, and paying you afterward.
